“You are upending the bottle and the self portrait simultaneously.”

Julia Marsh, artist and educator

“These are really striking.  I think of domesticity when considering  bottles, having your face drawn on their surface subverts that.  There’s an urbanism to their structure that is very contemporary, raw and unpolished in a good way. One of the reasons they work well in a grouping.  They are not individuals, even with an individual drawing on them.

“Ceramic containers contain all kinds of histories, used for trade, food storage and transport, yet your bottles don’t seem to have that.  At least not that kind of history.  Yet they very much reflect your history and ethos - whatever that is......”

“There’s something timeless about these. Or perhaps a non-linear overlapping narrative. Lovely, more please.”

Ruth Borgenicht, artist and educator

George, you were in the kids’ prayers tonight. They said they were thankful for “George, who is the best clay learner and teacher.” They also said they were thankful that they always have so much fun in your studio.

Just thought I would share.

Malissa Iona

“Beautiful work! But why are you so angry in some of them?“
